Barangay San Lorenzo, PNP and MACEA team-up to secure Makati CBD

December 11, 2008

Makati City Philippines – Based on the instructions of Barangay Chairman Joshua Santiago, Barangay San Lorenzo Police will now be teaming up with the PNP and MACEA security personnel in securing the Makati CBD.

“This cooperative measure between the Barangay, Southern Police District and the MACEA is an effort to deter criminality in our community. We have to keep it safe for our residents, office workers and tourists. We are after all, the premier business and shopping area of Metro Manila.” – according to Santiago.

The law enforcement teams will now be known as the “Makati CBD Police”, patrolling the stretch of Arnaiz, Paseo de Roxas and Ayala Avenues from 9 a.m. to 3 a.m. daily. The head coordinator for Barangay San Lorenzo is Kagawad Mike Dizon who heads the Barangay Traffic and Security Committee.

According to Makati police chief Supt. Gilbert Cruz, the CBD will be divided into six sectors which will be monitored by the joint security teams that will also serve as choke-points against the entry and exit of criminal elements targeting residential areas, business establishments and tourists. Cruz added that suspicious individuals lurking in alleys and streets within the CBD will be monitored and vehicles inspected at night.

The recent events in Mumbai, India prompted the private sector and police partnership.

We are requesting residents to be more security conscious and help in this security measure. Residents may call the 24-hour Barangay Action and Assistance Desk for immediate assistance stated Kagawad Dizon.

Most of the Central Business District is located at Barangay San Lorenzo where some 53 diplomatic offices are located. It is also the home to 3 major malls and several 3 to 5 star hotels and inns frequented by foreign and local expats and tourists.

Barangay San Lorenzo gearing for Christmas rush

December 8, 2008

Makati Philippines – With Christmas shopping already starting, there has been a daily increase in the inflow and outflow of vehicles in San Lorenzo Village and the surrounding areas. It is bound to get worse as office workers stay longer hours to do their shopping at the Glorietta and Cinema Square.

In an interview with Kagawad Mike Dizon, he stated that Barangay traffic enforcers are working together with MACEA, the MMDA and the City traffic enforcers to ensure the smooth flow of traffic in and out of the Barangay. “We are coordinating with all the concerned parties involved in traffic management to make sure that all the vital intersections are always manned, open and moving. We are also increasing our security preparedness by conducting more rounds and patrols along the major routes and shopping areas to prevent crime.”

Makati city police have already increased their patrols and presence along Pasay Road and Makati Avenue in preparation for the Christmas rush.
